Today is Tuesday, November 4th 2008. Election day. I believe that today is one of the most pivotal days in our nations history. Today we decide our nations new Commander and Chief. Today our future as a country and as hunters alike lays in the balance and awaits the direction of it's new leadership.
I have been doing a lot of thinking about this lately. There is so much controversy surrounding both of these candidates. There are so many questions in my mind about the true character of the individuals running for office.
Personally I lean very heavily to one candidate as far as my beliefs and values on important topics, and I couldn't be farther from the other. In fact the thought of one of the candidates being elected president scares the ever living CRAP out of me.
Personally, I am a constitutionalist. I KNOW that the founding fathers were divinely inspired when they wrote the constitution and the bill of rights. It is this same inspiration I seek when leading my own family. I vehemently oppose ANY PERSON that seeks to down play the constitution or thinks that they know better.
There is one pressing question in my mind about the people of this country...How could a man with such hatred and disdain for this countries constitution, founding fathers, and history come this close to being the president of the United States? It saddens me to think that we as Americans are so easily misled by a smooth oration or a charming smile. Where has the spirit of Americans gone? Where is the passion and patriotism that made this country what it is?
Some people in this country have made it almost unrecognizable to me...a God fearing good ole boy that loves this country and what I know it stands for.
I believe it is time...time to stop letting the EXTREMELY VOCAL minority decide the fate of the humble, hard working majority. Time to again find our roots and remember what this country has stood for since the founding fathers inked the constitution. I believe it is time to take our country, The United States of America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, back.
