Ok.... so for those of you that follow my blog, I sincerely apologize for slacking on the posts, but it is hunting season :) What can I say
So... Saturday, October 3, 2009 marks one of my all time favorite days of the year... This is my Christmas! And I am as giddy as little boy before Christmas waiting to see if he gets his Red Rider BB gun he's been asking for all year! I am so stinkin excited I can hardly stand it! For those of you that are waterfowl enthusiasts you will certainly understand what I mean... the smell of the crisp marsh air, prepping the boat, throwing the decoys and setting up the spread, fixing the blind, loading the gun and the anticipation as you wait for the very second when legal shooting light arrives! Oh man...I am getting so excite writing this I can hardly stand it.
I would like to take this time to thank all those that have worked so hard and sacrificed (and still sacrifice) to preserve our hunting rights and our waterfowl habitats across the country. Because without them... well, I wouldn't get my Christmas!
Here's a video for ya that kinda captures what I'm talking about! Now this is not a plug for them because I don't make anything by showing it, but man it gets me FIRED UP!!!
ENJOY!!!

Gear that I use
So I believe that one of the most important factors in having an enjoyable and safe hunt is to have the right gear and as the boy scouts would always say "BE PREPARED".
So I came across this very interesting guy on the net the other day, he calls himself the "Elk Nut" and he made a video that covers all the essentials for your pack you carry as you are in the mountains chasing that big bull or buck. So I thought I would post that video which will, if you follow his recommendations (and my recommendations, because these are virtually the same things I pack in my hunting pack) you will have a more safe and enjoyable hunt and you'll be prepared for nearly any situation you may come across in the mountains.
The list of the other gear I use will be coming soon as well, but for now enjoy the "Elk Nut".

LETS GET IT ON!!!
Wow, so if anyone reads this it has been a LONG time since I have posted anything, but I would like to get some stuff up here again on a more regular basis... anyway...
So its mid'ish July and I am getting so PUMPED for the up-coming archery hunt! for those that don't know I reside in Utah, so its a bit different from your typical tree stand archery hunting for big whitetails in the east or mid west. This is get out and hike your butt off and work for your prize kind of a hunt and I LOVE every minute of it!
My absolute favorite country is where the aspens and pines reside. Where on a crisp September morning you can hear the echo of a Big Bull Elk rutting in the distance that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand at attention. This is Gods Country!
I have both my archery Deer and Archery Elk tags and so we'll see how it pans out I will for sure be keeping y'all posted! I am actually working on trying to video tape my hunts so I may be able to post those here.
I have had some people ask me what equipment I use when archery hunting, so here is an abbreviated list. more will be coming soon.
Bow - Mathews Drenalin
Arrows - Easton
Broad heads - Whackem
The bugle and cow calls that I have found that sound the absolute best are the one that Mossback puts out:
Bugle - Mini Throttle Bugle
Cow call - Widowmaker
(just watch this CRAZY video mossback put out illustrating the effectiveness of this amazing cow call)...
If that doesn't get you going, check your pulse, you might be dead (or just an idiot) lol
I'll have more "gear that I use" up here soon. so stay tuned!!!

HOLD ON!!!
Ok, so it has been a long time since i have updated this blog. But here we go again...
So it happened. we have elected our one way ticket on the bullet train to socialism. YEAH for all of us!! Now I know that this isn't a political blog and I intend to stick to more relevant topics, but I also wanted to let out a voice of warning...HOLD ON TO YOUR GUNS!!! Because they are gunning for yours. One of the last items on their agenda to take over this country is to disarm America. Now they are smart enough to know not to just go for an all out ban on firearms... No, they want to lull us into our own security and and take it away slowly, (you know, a frog placed in a pot of hot water will jump right out...but place him in a pot of water and slowly turn the heat up and you'll boil him to death without him putting up a fight).
already we are seeing higher taxes on ammunition and other pieces of legislation that will slowly dissarm america... these must be stoped... and YES you DO have a voice... call up your senator and congressmena and bug the HELL out of them and let them know that you DO NOT approve. After all, they work for YOU, not the other way around.
STAY INFORMED AND SPEAK UP DAMN IT!!!
